7 Things Husbands Wish Their Wives Would Stop Doing

I grew up in a home where the couple were both expressive of their feelings.

My parents are very vocal and don’t fail to share how they feel with each other at any point.

Growing up, I didn’t see them disagree or fight much or have any major issues with each other.

Now that I’m an adult, I can attribute their almost unproblematic relationship with each other to the fact that they are steadily communicating with each other about their feelings.

However, the same cannot be said about every other marriage out there.

I know of a couple living close to me who are almost always at loggerheads.

Most times, they are raising their voices at each other.

I passively observed how they related with each other in public to see if I could find out why they were almost always arguing.

I’m not a therapist.

I’m just a curious person who loves studying relationships and marriages and helping them get better in any way I can.

I found out that the man was not so expressive about his feelings.

There are so many married men who are like him.

In addition to not being so expressive about how they feel, there are certain topics some men do not feel comfortable enough to talk about with their wives.

As a result, there are some things husbands wish their wives would stop doing but do not know how to tell them.

They’ll keep tolerating till they get to their breaking point, and they can no longer internalize the hurt and anger.

It’ll lead to fights and arguments in the marriage — something that should have been avoided from the onset if they spoke up.

If left unchecked for a long time, some of these things can have lasting negative effects on a marriage.

We don’t want that, which is why we’ll be discussing the things husbands wish their wives would stop doing.

Let’s get right to it.

7 Things Husbands Wish Their Wives Would Stop Doing

1. Not getting ready on time

Things husbands wish their wives would stop doing

Although it sounds funny and doesn’t seem like much of an issue, one of the things husbands wish their wives would stop doing is not getting ready on time.

There are women who are fond of doing this.

Such a woman will have an event to attend with her husband.

The event will come with about a month’s notice so that she has enough time to plan and prepare for it.

On the D-Day, she starts an endless preparation.

She often acts undecided when picking out her clothes, makeup, jewelry, shoes, and perfume.

Her husband only takes a few minutes to get ready and begins to wait for her to prepare for long hours.

Many men don’t like waiting for long hours, especially for something that has already been planned for beforehand.

But because it’s his wife, he won’t complain.

If it becomes a vicious cycle that refuses to stop, he may soon have an angry outburst one day because the anger has been building up inside him.

2. Disturbing him when he wants his alone time

Everyone needs time alone from time to time.

The importance of alone time cannot be overemphasized.

It helps you recharge, think clearly, set your priorities straight, re-strategize, and be prepared to keep facing the world and giving your best.

However, some women do not believe that men truly need alone time.

Their belief may be based on the fact that most men always appear busy.

When they are not working, they attend meetings, hang out with the boys, spend time with their wives, or play with their children.

It’ll make such a woman wonder when the man has his alone time or if he really needs it.

So she’ll doubt it if you tell her that men also need their alone time.

If she ever sees that her husband is quiet and not doing anything, she’ll think that there’s something wrong.

Even when he reassures her over and over again that he’s fine and just needs some time alone, she might not be convinced that that’s the case.

She may feel that he is hiding something from her and check in occasionally to make sure that he is fine.

I understand that she’s doing it out of concern and care, but her husband doesn’t need it.

At that point, he needs total tranquility to collect his thoughts, think about the things going on in his life, plan well, and recharge properly.

He doesn’t need any form of distraction or disturbance, but his wife is getting in the way.

It’s one of the things husbands wish their wives would stop doing.

3. Overflogging issues

There are women who don’t easily let go whenever they have an argument or disagreement with anyone.

Many men don’t like it and wish their women would stop doing it.

Most men just want to get the solution to a problem, fix it, and move on with their lives, and I think that’s the ideal way to handle problems.

However, some women would keep dancing around a particular matter and stretching it longer than necessary.

They’ll overflog the issue and, in the end, do nothing to resolve it or get a solution for it.

4. Expecting him to become a mind reader

Things husbands wish their wives would stop doing

Some women expect their men to read their minds, and it’s one of the things husbands wish their wives would stop doing.

There are men who pay attention to details and are able to figure things out when they are given hints.

But not every man is like that.

Not everyone can pay attention to details or figure things out when they are only provided with hints.

However, some women fail to understand that every individual is different.

Such a woman might have seen her friend’s husband playing the perfect mind reader for her friend, or she might have seen it in a movie.

She then goes to her husband, and instead of being direct about what she wants, she starts dropping hints, expecting him to string the hints together and figure out what she wants.

Not everyone is a mind reader, and husbands want their wives to stop expecting them to become one when they clearly can’t.

5. Nagging excessively

Will this list of things husbands wish their wives would stop doing be complete if nagging isn’t on it?

I don’t think so.

Nagging is one of the things husbands wish their wives would stop doing.

No one ever wants to be around a nag, as the act itself is frustrating and draining.

Now, imagine a man who has a wife who nags excessively.

Whew!

Some women see nagging as the easiest and most effective way to get their husbands to agree with them and get things done.

Although they’ve been achieving results with it, it’s not the right way.

They need to realize that there are several other ways to get their husbands to listen to them and do their bidding.

One such way is by talking about what they want with their husbands.

Such a woman needs to sit down with her husband and tell him what she wants him to do and why she wants him to do it.

When women learn to communicate effectively, they will realize they have been wasting their time and energy on nagging.

6. Treating him like a child

Things husbands wish their wives would stop doing

Some women think that they need to always spell things out for their husbands.

They feel that their husbands are incapable of handling things by themselves without their interference.

This mindset makes them police their husband and generally treat him like a child.

If he makes a mistake, all hell will be let loose because they see him as someone who needs their input and guidance to get things right.

Men do not like to be treated in such a manner

They want their wives to know that they can hold their own whenever the need arises without the help of anyone.

7. Denying him sex as punishment

Things husbands wish their wives would stop doing

Some women usually deny their husbands sex as punishment whenever they have a fight or disagreement.

Surprising, right?

Well, it happens.

They’ll hold off sex from their husbands for a period of time or till he apologizes to them.

It is wrong to use sex as a punishment tool against your husband.

Your feelings might be hurt during a disagreement with him, which is very valid.

However, weaponizing sex in marriage is absolutely wrong.

Don’t punish him by denying him sexual intimacy, which is his conjugal right.

Instead, focus on addressing the issue you have with him and sorting it out.

  1. Most women not all do these things because men are emotional unavailable and detached or selfish . If a guy is treating his woman the way she deserves she would not be doing any of these things .
