My friends threw me a surprise bachelorette party on the eve of my wedding, and it was one of the sweetest things they’ve ever done for me.
One of the things that made it interesting and special was that they found a way to invite some of our older female married friends, and I’m grateful that they graced the event with their presence.
When it was time for ‘serious talks and pieces of advice, ‘ I sure did get an earful, and one of the things they talked about was things that I should never stop doing for my husband.
Since I’ve applied it to my marriage, it has been working for me, and I have decided to pay it forward.
In this article, I’ll share with you things you should never stop doing for your husband.
Marriage comes with so many responsibilities, and its success depends on the contributions of both the husband and the wife.
As a wife, you must contribute to some extent, if not as much as your husband, to the peace, happiness, and smooth-running of your home.
To achieve this, the romantic and fun times that made you look forward to being married has to be maintained.
At the beginning of the marriage, you both were serious and intentional about making each other happy.
With time, you’ll ease into a routine and either tone down or stop some of those things you were doing.
But it doesn’t have to be so.
There are certain things you should never stop doing for your husband to keep him happy, make him feel special and loved, and in turn, contribute to the happiness and success of your marriage.
Stay with me as we discuss these things below.
7 Things You Should Never Stop Doing For Your Husband
1. Paying him compliments

It’s not only women who love being paid compliments.
Men love it, too.
In fact, never have I ever seen someone who doesn’t love to be complimented.
So don’t stop complimenting your husband.
He absolutely loves it, even if he doesn’t tell you.
Sometimes, we feel that we’ve been together with our spouse for a long time, and so paying them compliments is no longer necessary.
That’s a wrong mindset, and you should discard it ASAP (as soon as possible).
Being complimented makes you feel loved, seen, heard, and special.
Extend that same feeling to your husband.
When he steps out looking dapper, hail him and tell him that he looks like he just stepped out of the latest edition of Style Magazine.
If he wears a nice fragrance, inhale deeply when you hug him and tell him that he smells heavenly.
Don’t stop telling him the things you love and admire about him.
2. Giving him pleasant surprises

During the dating phase, you used to surprise him in pleasant ways.
Seeing his surprise and joy when he saw the things you had in store for him gave you great joy.
But when you got married, somehow, complacency crept in, and you unintentionally began to take him for granted.
Sometimes, complacency might not be the culprit; it might be the weight of the additional responsibilities that come with marriage weighing heavily on you.
Somehow, you run on autopilot and stop giving him pleasant surprises, which is one of the things he loves about you.
You see those little surprises you pull on your husband, and he loves?
Don’t stop doing them.
It’s little gestures like that that add up to form the big memories we have with our spouse.
Just as you want to be surprised pleasantly, do the same for your husband.
For instance, prepare his favorite meal after he’s had a busy day at work.
You can take him on a surprise date to that new restaurant he’s been wanting to go to; the bills are on you.
Alternatively, you can visit him at his office unannounced with some of his favorite snacks and a bottle of wine during his lunch break to cool off and unwind.
Don’t stop doing those things that’ll make him smile sheepishly whenever he thinks of you.
These little things will make him fall in love with you all over again, and he’ll be convinced that he married rightly.
3. Making body contact with him

Initiate physical contact with your husband as often as you can.
Making body contact with your husband makes you feel good, and it also reassures him that you love being around him.
Brushing your body against his, laying down on top of him, climbing his back, putting your arm around his shoulder, massaging his neck while he works or relaxes, hugging him, and giving him random pecks and kisses are some ways to have body contact with your husband.
I bet you he loves every one of them.
4. Reassuring him of your love for him

During the dating phase, some people always expressed their love and affection for their partner and how they couldn’t live without them.
But after marriage, it’s crickets from their end.
Perhaps they feel that they’ve gotten the ring, and so there’s no need to exert any further effort toward their spouse.
It’s another wrong mindset that should be dropped like hot coal.
Don’t let it be the case in your marriage.
Don’t stop saying ‘I love you’ to your husband.
No matter how long you’ve been married, keep saying these three magical words to him.
It makes him feel loved, valued, and appreciated, which is exactly how you feel about him.
Convey those thoughts and feelings to him by showering him daily with reassuring words such as ‘I love you’ and ‘I cherish you.
5. Playing with him

Sometimes, we do not realize how important it is to have fun and play with our partner.
We underestimate playing in that we do not engage in it often.
It’ll interest you to know that being playful with your partner is very important.
Every time shouldn’t be for serious business.
Not engaging in fun activities occasionally will make your relationship robotic, monotonous, dull, and boring.
Trust me, no one wants that for themselves.
Your marriage should be fun and exciting, and it’s up to you to make it be exactly how you want it.
Sometimes, loosen up, have fun, laugh out loud, let down your hair, share inside jokes, make funny faces, behave silly around each other, spray water on each other, and let him give you a chase, etc.
These are the simple things that strengthen your bond and help relieve you of life’s stress.
They help reassure you that you are truly doing life with the right person, and there are only a few reassurances that feel better.
6. Wooing him

Yes, you read right.
Don’t stop wooing your husband even after you’re married to him.
It isn’t written anywhere that wooing should be enjoyed by women alone.
Just like women, men also want to feel wanted and desired.
Don’t stop chasing your husband.
By wooing him, you’re showing him that after all this time, he’s still the one you love and desire.
Take him on dates and flirt with him.
Seek out new experiences that’ll spice up and add to the fun in your marriage.
Keep the fire of love, passion, and desire burning in the bedroom and every other aspect of your marriage.
Show him that you’re still very much interested in him and your feelings for him haven’t decreased a bit just because you both got married.
7. Being appreciative of him

Oftentimes, it’s easy to take your partner for granted because you’re already married to them.
Your partner adds value to your life and contributes to making your life brighter and better every day.
Don’t you think he deserves your appreciation?
Of course he does.
And that’s why you shouldn’t stop showing him that you’re grateful for the gift of him and appreciate all that he’s doing for you.
Let him know that his presence in your life is an immense blessing to you and that you’re ever thankful to have him as your other half.
